See for yourself how unfair laws threaten the retirement security of educators. Women are disproportionately impacted. Tell Congress to support the Social Security Fairness Act and repeal laws that discourage qualified educators from the profession. - Representatives Titus (D-NV) and Woolsey (D-CA) in the U.S. House of Representatives have introduced a bill (H.R. 2377) to create National Classified School Employees of the Year awards. These awards would recognize the essential services that education support professionals – including paraeducators, clerical assistants, school bus drivers, custodians, food service workers, technicians, custodians, school nurses, and security professionals – provide to America’s public schools and institutions of higher education. NEA is pushing for immediate House passage of this bill – but we need to show a lot of support among Members of Congress, particularly among Republicans, in order for House leaders to move the bill. See if your Representative is a cosponsor. Contact your Representative and urge him/her to support national classified school employees of the year awards.
